You’ve worked hard to build your business.

You’ve made sacrifices along the way to see your dream come true.

You love what you’ve accomplished so far and are excited for the

future.

W3d man bookshat you don’t love – what you haven’t trained or sacrificed for – is figuring out the accounting that goes with it.

Taking care of the books is the least exciting part of your dream.

What if you could delegate that unloved (and possibly neglected) part of your business to someone who actually likes accounting?

It’s true! I love working with numbers and strategizing how to make your business more efficient and profitable.

I’m a virtual CFO for entrepreneurs who absolutely love what they do but are spending too much time on the “business side” of their business. They’re worried they might miss something important or make financial mistakes. I help them increase confidence, reduce financial stress, and free up time so they can get back to the work they really love to do.

Since I was a kid, I’ve loved numbers (and money!). Math always came easily to me. I knew at a young age that I wanted to go into business, but didn’t know exactly what kind of business.

During college I wasn’t thrilled with the Economics or Marketing classes, but I loved the Accounting courses as much as those early math classes.  I had found my calling!

I passed the CPA exam, started in public accounting with one of the largest firms in the world, and quickly got into the rhythm of fast-paced audits. I loved traveling to different companies every few weeks and learning all about how they operated, while also coming up with suggestions on how they could improve their accounting procedures and systems. I found that I really enjoyed working with so many different people and types of businesses. It was definitely not the boring accounting stereotype!

After a few years, an opportunity came up to do similar work for an international Fortune 100 company. Their internal accountants travelled the world, auditing all their locations. Seriously? Who knew there was a job out there that would pay me to travel around the world??!  I couldn’t sign up fast enough!!

After that amazing experience, I moved into accounting roles in private companies in increasingly demanding positions – Controller (at several companies), Director of Finance, VP of Finance. I also passed the Certified Management Accountant exam, which is similar to the CPA but tailored for hands-on accounting in all types of business situations (instead of audits and compliance like the CPA).

The various jobs and responsibilities were certainly the opposite of boring but there was a different problem. I loved the work, but there was too much of it. 60- and 70-hour weeks were normal, instead of occasional.

I was burned out.

As much as I love to travel, that international job was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’d bought a house and adopted two dogs since then, so constant travel was out of the question. I wondered what I could do to re-capture that spirit of variety and new opportunities while still using all the financial knowledge and experience I’d gained.

And so Capstone Books was born!

I’m now helping entrepreneurs and professional service providers grow their companies and increase their profits. This is the best of both worlds for me — I still get to dig into new and different enterprises, plus use my financial expertise to help others expand their dreams. I really enjoy working with and getting to know people and their businesses, and help them keep more of their well-earned profit!

If you find yourself spending too much time on the “business side” of your business, I’d love to help!
